Tettenhall, West Midlands: Sunrise Senior Living has opened its latest care home alternative in Wolverhampton’s leafy outskirts - its 16th residence to be established in the UK since 2000.

The ceremonial opening, on Thursday 18th October, was attended by over 200 guests. Lead by Mr Miles Duncan, the Executive Director of Sunrise of Tettenhall, and Mr Tom Newell, the Worldwide President of Sunrise Senior Living, the actual opening ceremony and ribbon-cutting was performed by Ms Jean Hipwood, Chairperson of Alzheimer’s Wolverhampton and by new resident, Mrs Brindley, assisted by Mr Duncan.

Sunrise of Tettenhall is set to challenge long held perceptions about care homes. This new development is a bespoke build to a very high specification, both inside and out and is designed with the special needs of the elderly in mind. Very high quality and spiritually uplifting, there is a bistro/café area, restaurant, large lounge areas and landscaped gardens. Every resident has a well-specified private suite.

Although beautiful by any standards, this new Sunrise residence’s focus is administering expert care that preserves a senior’s dignity and promotes their independence. There will be 5 activities, entertainments and hobbies organised every day that will help those moving in to keep up old interests, develop new ones or just to have fun.

“It all amounts to a revolution in retirement living and elderly care,” comments Miles Duncan, “one which is being well received by the local community, including local doctors, specialists and others interested in senior wellbeing. The opening of this residence has created 90 new jobs; employing local people and building relationships with the surrounding community is something that we consider particularly important.”

He adds, “Sunrise of Tettenhall, as with all Sunrise residences, will be providing a new choice for seniors and their families. All team members are trained to provide services and care in a manner that supports the company’s Principles of Service, which are encouraging independence, enabling freedom of choice, preserving dignity, celebrating individuality, nurturing the spirit, whilst involving family and friends.”

Fernley Chooses Waterless Carwash System for the Cleaning of all Airside Vehicles at Gatwick Airport

Miracle Drywash is the solution to BAA’s Strict Water Quality Environmental Regulations

SJ Khebbal, CEO of SJK Products with John Rickards,
General Manager of Fernley
at Gatwick Airport

Crawley, West Sussex: Crawley-based firm SJK Products announced today that the airport cleaning firm Fernley, part of the Europe-wide airport services conglomerate International Aviation Services (IAS), has chosen its product, Miracle Drywash, to clean all of its airside vehicles at Gatwick Airport.

Fernley will use the waterless car cleaning system to wash both their own fleet and several clients’ vehicles and equipment totaling over 120 at Gatwick, which include pushback tugs, baggage trucks, water and toilet servicing trucks, de-icing trucks, cars and vans, with each vehicle being cleaned on a 3-4 week cycle.

“We were faced with the problem of how to comply with Gatwick's Airside vehicle washing instructions, forbidding the use of detergents when washing vehicles. These regulations are one of the measures used by the airport to comply with Environment Agency water quality rules to prevent pollution of the rivers surrounding the airport," explains John Rickards, General Manager of Fernley. "BAA’s rules stipulate that the use of ‘water only’ in the traditional way to clean Airside vehicles is permitted, but a long term solution to this must be found. This new method of vehicle cleaning uses no water and therefore has the additional benefit of reducing the airport’s water consumption.”

Due to the airport controls, Fernley had to find a solution, and discovered to their surprise that the waterless carwash system, Miracle Drywash, was being manufactured virtually in the same town - Crawley.

“We’ve now trialed Miracle Drywash and found that it does exactly what it says it does. It saves us time; it uses no water; it doesn’t pollute the environment and has given us great results – satisfying both the customers’ and our needs. It is a very very good product,” confirms John. “We chose it for these reasons, but also because its manufacturer happened to be close by, and because we have found SJK Products to be an attentive and efficient company, responsive to our needs.”

Fernley presented Miracle Drywash to BAA as the solution to their water quality regulations and BAA approved their use of the product.

CEO of SJK Products, SJ Khebbal, is delighted with Fernley’s decision to go with Miracle Drywash. “To have been given approval from Fernley and BAA in turn is a real honour for us and proof that our product really is environmentally friendly as well as testament to its cleaning efficiency,” says Khebbal. “Most people are not aware that when they wash their car in the traditional way, their dirty soapy water is actually harming the environment. So I hope this announcement will go some way in educating people about this problem.”

Fernley intends to gradually roll out use of Miracle Drywash on airside vehicles in all of the other airports in which the company operates including Heathrow, Stansted, Luton, Manchester, Dublin, Cork, Liverpool and Nice in France, Brussels in Belgium and Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

About Fernley: Fernley is part of the International Aviation Services (IAS) group of companies. For more information, visit http://www.internationalaviationservices.co.uk

About Miracle Drywash: Miracle Drywash, manufactured by SJK Products Ltd in Crawley, West Sussex, is a totally waterless washing and polishing system – a revolutionary way to both wash and polish your car, boat, motorbike, or any other metal, glass, or painted surface - with only a single application of the product. It both prevents pollutants and detergents from entering the river system and each bottle saves 1 ton of water. The company was co-founded by SJ Khebbal, CEO and Tim Jones, Chairman in 2004. The product was endorsed by South East Water in 2006 and was awarded the prestigious Waterwise Marque in 2007 for its contribution towards saving water in the UK.
