The media seem to like our upcoming Monty Python-themed wedding a lot!

First, there was our live interview on the BBC News Channel on 18th April 2019, the 40th anniversary of Monty Python's Life of Brian, during which they not only asked about the wedding (that will be held at the beautiful 15th century wedding venue, Ravenswood, in Sharpthorne, near East Grinstead), but they even played my proposal video. And then this, in The Sun (page 12, 20th May 2019):

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/9110310/monty-python-super-fans-love-the-sun-article/

And then this, in The Brighton Argus (the entire page 3, 22 May 2019):

https://www.theargus.co.uk/news/17655677.are-this-sussex-couple-the-uks-biggest-monty-python-fans/
If this is the media coverage we are getting, four months before the wedding, what kind of coverage will we get on the big day itself, I wonder...!

The We-Welease of Monty Python's The Life of Brian

Holding our Limited Edition Packs
Went to see the 40th-anniversary re-release (we-welease) of Monty Python's The Life Of Brian with Gemma and Hy Money at Scott Cinemas East Grinstead last night.

We were all given a Limited Edition Pack filled with lots of silly things: a fake beard, a reprint of an article by Sanjeev Bhaskar about the film, an info sheet on the film which included origami instructions on how to turn the sheet into a boulder (could come in handy for a stoning), the movie's song lyrics, a sheet of silly stickers and the movie poster.

It was great seeing the film yet again. Hearing the audience laugh adds another dimension to the enjoyment of watching movies that you just don't get when with home viewing.

I got recognised as the "Monty Python guy" by the lead singer of CODA!

Peter Byrne as Robert Plant
I was walking back home from East Grinstead a few weeks ago when this chap in the street said, "Hi, I recognise you - aren't you the Monty Python guy?"

He later identified himself as Peter Byrne, that is to say, Robert Plant in the Led Zeppelin tribute band "CODA". Well, I was chuffed to be recognised!

So I listened to some CODA. They are great! Sound just like the real thing!

Great to meet you Peter - you made my day. Glad you're a Python fan too!

You can find CODA online here:

Fergus vs. George

George's friends and family watch the first broadcast of the show on the big screen at the Broadway pub in East Grinstead

Step son George was the winner in the TV show "Slips" on Viva UK (channel 358 on Sky and Freeview 21), broadcast last night for the first time at 10pm (but will be repeated ad infinitum).

George's racing skills won him his car back plus his competitor's car, both of which were souped up by the TV show (similar to the way "Pimp My Ride" does it)!

Here we all are at the Broadway pub watching the show

George (right) cringing while watching himself on the big screen

George cringing even more!

All of us having a laugh

East Grinstead Chamber of Commerce to Hold its First Annual Business Exhibition in Town

Chequer Mead to host ‘Exhibiz 2008’ from 17 to 23 April 2008

Dale Bulbrook, President
East Grinstead Chamber of Commerce

East Grinstead, West Sussex: The East Grinstead Chamber of Commerce announced today that it is holding its first East Grinstead Chamber of Commerce Business Exhibition (Exhibiz 2008) at Chequer Mead Community Arts Centre from 17 to 23 Apr 2008 (inclusive).

The purpose of the exhibition is to showcase the wealth of local business skills and resources available.

“This exhibition is primarily a business-to-business event, designed to show local firms who else is trading in the area and to engender trust and confidence by providing an opportunity to meet face to face. We have probably all had some kind of negative experience when dealing with businesses that we may have found via a faceless business directory or simply from searching the web, without knowing who was going to turn up at the door. Attending this kind of event can ‘break the ice’ and make that important first contact that can lead to a useful long term business relationship,” says Dale Bulbrook, President, East Grinstead Chamber of Commerce.

The exhibition boasts an impressive list of exhibitors, including: LA Fitness, PowerWaterSystems, Felbridge Hotel & Spa, EG Rotary Club, Melanoma Fund, Lloyds TSB, Copthorne Hotels, Hallmark Travel, Sovereign Finance, Ashdown Park Hotel and Queen Victoria Hospital and many more.

“This exhibition is a unique opportunity to find out about the extraordinary diversity of goods and services on offer in the local area,” says Mr Bulbrook. “So please come along to see what’s on offer and support your local businesses.”
